Silicone rubber heating tape is available in either wirewound or etched foil. Wirewound elements consist of a resistive wire wrapped around a fiberglass cord to provide support and stability. Etched foil heaters are made with a thin metal foil (.001") as the resistive element. Wirewound is recommended and preferred for small to medium batches, medium to large heaters, and to produce prototypes to prove design parameters before using etched foil for high volume production.

This makes these heaters ideal for cryogenic and high-temperature applications. We can also design these heaters to be integrated with thermal switches, cut-offs, and sensors.
